We are delighted to welcome you on board of Budapest river cruise programmes. As these experiences take place on moving vessels on the River Danube, we kindly ask all guests to help us maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. By booking your cruise ticket, you accept the Code of Conduct and Terms. The Danube is deep and fast-flowing, and not suitable for swimming in the central cruise sections, so a shared sense of care and awareness is essential throughout your time on board. The crew is here to look after you, and with your cooperation, we can ensure a smooth, enjoyable and memorable cruise for all.
Passenger Safety & Conduct Code – Budapest Cruise Programmes
Following Crew’s Instructions
The present information provides an overview of the key safety rules and guest responsibilities. By joining the Budapest River Cruise event, you confirm that you have read and understood the guidance below. All rules apply from boarding until disembarkation, and all guests must follow the crew’s instructions at all times.
General Conduct
A river cruise is a controlled environment where accidents can occur if safety procedures are ignored. Crew instructions are mandatory and a condition of being on board. Serious or repeated violations may result in removal, penalties, or responsibility for damages.
Safe Behaviour
Always follow the instructions of the crew. Smoking or any open flame is only permitted in clearly marked outdoor areas, and smoking or vaping is forbidden inside any of the cruise ships. Jumping into the river, leaning dangerously over the side, or climbing on ship structures is strictly prohibited and may lead to removal and fines. Lifejackets and safety equipment must not be touched or tampered with unless instructed.
Guest Responsibility
Guests are responsible for their own actions, including any damage or unsafe behaviour. Disrupting others or interfering with the crew is not permitted. The organiser may remove anyone who does not follow the rules, and no refunds will be issued in such cases.
Moving Safely On Board
Guests must move around the vessel with care. Running is not allowed, and guests should use handrails when using the stairs. Take care on wet or uneven surfaces, especially outdoors.
Medical and Emergency Situations
If a guest becomes seriously ill or injured, the ship will stop at a suitable docking point for proper medical assistance. Guests with existing conditions should bring their own medication and inform the organiser in advance. Crew and staff are not allowed to store or administer medicine of any kind. Only guests can administer medication to themselves or the person they have responsibility for.
Children and Minors
Alcohol will not be served to anyone under 18, and identification may be requested; responsible adults are kindly asked to monitor drinks to avoid any confusion. If children become restless and wish to move around, we kindly ask parents to anticipate this behaviour and keep them occupied in a child-friendly way until disembarkation (e.g. colouring, puzzles, spot the difference, travel games like ‘I spy’, taking them to the ship bar for a snack, or to the terrace for a silly photo, counting the bridges, ships etc.)
Alcohol and Intoxication
Staff will refuse to serve alcohol to guests who appear unsafe or intoxicated. Further, the crew may refuse boarding or request disembarkation for guests who are excessively intoxicated. This is for the safety of the individual and all guests. No refund will be issued, and decisions made by the crew are final for safety reasons.
Prohibited Items and Substances
Weapons, fireworks, and hazardous or illegal substances are prohibited. Please note that an innocent candle may set off the smoke alarm: please consult with the booking team and crew if there is an upcoming birthday. Outside foods and drinks, incl. alcohol may not be brought on board. Only foods and drinks served by the ship bar may be consumed. On private cruises, outside drinks and food may be allowed if pre-approved and pre-paid (corkage fee and official documentation, e.g. receipt is applicable).
