Yes, there are some Fireworks cruises with drinks only on Aug 20 (the booking calendar typically opens around June-July for these programmes, so please check back or drop us an email to get on a notification list).
Based on our experience, tickets for the Budapest Fireworks Cruise tend to sell out well in advance. In addition, as 20 August is Hungary’s most important national celebration, the city centre and riverfront areas become exceptionally busy throughout the day and evening.
If you are planning to enjoy the August 20th fireworks from the Danube riverbanks, we would recommend allowing plenty of time to reach your chosen viewing location. Alternatively, many visitors choose to combine dinner with a fireworks cruise, avoiding the need to navigate the large crowds shortly before the display begins at 9:00 pm. Ultimately, it is your Budapest holiday and the choice depends entirely on your personal preferences.

The meeting point of each Fireworks Cruise depends on the given programme and vessel. Boats can depart from both the Buda or the Pest side, depending on the programme you reserve. Please read your confirmation email carefully to see the actual pier and meeting point information. Kindly make sure to prepare the route in advance having busy roads and closures in mind. Boarding the vessel begins 30 min before the programme begins (not sooner due to ongoing preparations).

Miscellaneous Info about the Budapest Fireworks
Please note that the fireworks are by nature a noisy event, which is not recommended for toddlers and smaller children. If you have sensitive ears, and you are generally hurt by firework shows, we recommend using earplugs with noise cancellation during the event of the Budapest Fireworks.
After the Fireworks the roads and streets are crowded, so it will definitely take more time to get to your hotel in Budapest or to other Budapest locations to further celebrate the event.
The Hungarian Fireworks show is rich in its colours and rhythms. That said, the national symbols, like the colours of the national tricolour of the Hungarian flag get more weight in the colour scheme of the fireworks display (the Hungarian flag is red-white-green stripes, sort of like the Italian flag, but ours is horizontally striped not vertically).

Unfortunately, there are no cruise tickets available with concession (i.e. no child, student, accessible or senior discounts). All tickets are adult priced. The programme itself is recommended above 14 years of age due to the late hours and loud noises of fireworks pops. Children aged 5-14 should be wearing ear defenders/ noise cancellation ear buds or headphones to benefit from proper hearing protection (Fireworks are not recommended under 5 year olds and pets).
