We are often asked if pets are welcome on board on certain Budapest river cruises. We have 2 good news for dog owners. There are several sightseeing cruises where small dogs are welcome, and there is no extra charge – your dog can cruise for free.
On the other hand, unfortunately there are stricter pet policies on cruises with catering, as these programs have to meet special health & safety regulations.
These restrictions apply on most of the dinner cruises (however may not apply to guide dogs on certain cruises, who may be allowed on a selection of the boat tour programs: please contact us via email before making a reservation to make sure you book or buy a cruise where dogs / guide dogs are allowed.)
More specifically:
Sightseeing Cruises
On sightseeing cruises, as opposed to cruises with lunch or dinner, small dogs and also guide dogs are allowed, but they must wear a muzzle, and must be kept on leash during the cruise. Please let us know about your dog in advance, so that we can reserve the most suitable seats for you on board.
Dinner Cruises
There is one dinner cruise where small dogs are welcome, on the Cruise & Show program. Please note that the dogs have to stay in a dog basket during the cruise. Bigger dogs (not even large sized guide dogs) are unfortunately not allowed on this dinner cruise.
Much to our greatest regret, dogs are not allowed on the following dinner cruises: A La Carte Dinner Cruise, Dinner Cruise & Piano Music, Dinner & Gypsy Music, 10 pm Cruise.
This regulation may not apply if you are accompanied by your guide dog: please contact us via email before making a reservation so that we can help you which cruises are best suited to your needs. If you are travelling with a guide dog, please note that the dog must wear a muzzle, and must be kept on leash during the cruise. Please let us know about your dog partner in advance, so that we can suggest the best cruise option, and reserve the most suitable table for you on board.

Further requirements
Before booking, please make sure that your dog has a pet passport, is microchipped and received a rabies jab – 21 days before departure. Overall, dogs must be healthy, clean and well-behaved so that the cruise can be a pleasant experience for the owner, for fellow passengers, and for the dog as well.

Thanks for the answer!
Dear Iryna,
Thank you for your inquiry.
On the Cruise and Guide panorama boats, you can take your dog with a muzzle and leash:
https://budapestrivercruise.com/daytime-guided-sightseeing-cruises-in-budapest
Dock: the cruise leaves from and arrives at Vigado Square, Dock 7, which is located in the city center of the Pest side of Budapest (District V)
Cruise and Guide panorama boats are also available in the evening hours, please check out the calendar: https://budapestrivercruise.com/budapest-cruise-calendar
Unfortunately, dinner cruises and other sightseeing or drinks-only programs are not pet friendly.
You can find a lot of dog-friendly restaurants in Budapest if you look around the internet.
